CSD Enforcing Beneficial Ownership Compliance Deadline

The Central Supplier Database (CSD) has started enforcing BO compliance for all CSD-registered suppliers as of January 2025. This comes after the CSD notice released 1 November requesting all companies and CC’s to ensure their BO declarations are updated with CIPC.

Since this notice, the CSD has advised that a lot of suppliers have not submitted their beneficial ownership information to CIPC or submitted it incorrectly.

Non-compliant companies have started receiving emails from CSD stating

“We urge you to immediately correct your ownership information at CIPC and ensure alignment between CSD and CIPC by 31 March 2025. If your CSD ownership information and CIPC beneficial ownership information are not aligned and do not amount to 100% by this deadline, your CSD profile will be inactivated.”

CSD Registration Compliance is critical to prevent deregistration

This directly affects the ownership information that shows up on the CSD, which means that suppliers can’t:

  • Update their supplier profiles.
  • Take part in tender opportunities.
  • Be considered when organs of state look for suppliers

The procedure of updating your CSD ownership information is simple but needs accuracy and thoroughness. Beneficial Ownership information submitted on CSD needs to align with the disclosure done at CIPC.

  • Log into your CSD profile. Log into your profile on the Central Supplier Database’s official website. If you don’t already have an account, start with CSD Registration
  • Navigate to the Beneficial Ownership Section. Locate the section for CSD Requirements and concentrate on Beneficial Ownership changes.
  • Provide ownership details.
  • Enter the necessary information about each beneficial owner:
    • Full names and identification numbers.
    • The percentage of ownership or control held.
    • Contact information.
  • Submit supporting documents. Make sure you have supporting documentation, such as shareholder agreements, ID copies, and business structures. Upload these as part of your update.
  • Review and Submit. Double-check the information you supplied for accuracy, then submit the modification by the deadline.
