Commercial Solar Rentals for SMEs at Low Costs

If you run a business in South Africa, you’re likely feeling the pinch as electricity costs have recently skyrocketed by a staggering 15-30%. And as if that wasn’t enough, the ongoing menace of loadshedding adds even more strain, putting additional pressure on the bottom line of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Table Below outlines the updated tariff increases across several major metros from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.

Municipality

  • City of Joburg
  • Tshwane
  • eThekwini
  • City of Cape Town
  • Ekurhuleni

  • 15.1%

With electricity costs surging and loadshedding wreaking havoc on South African businesses, it’s imperative for SMEs to take a proactive approach to tackle these challenges. Now is the time to review energy costs as a whole and explore alternative solutions to secure a more stable future for your business.

Company Partners teamed up with SA’s SME Solar Specialists to give your business the best alternative energy solutions the solar industry has to offer. This includes solar and back-up systems – anywhere is South Africa.

Commercial Clients Managed by Sola Synergi:

How to SAVE on my bottom line and still beat loadshedding?

When we had to setup our solar system, we did not want to take on extra costs. So, we made the calculations and realised we can use a back-up only system to save on our bottom line. How? We could replace our generator, and made these 3x smart moves:

  1. Tax Rebates: We claimed back tax rebates and deducted VAT on our monthly solar system expenses. Contact us if you need assistance with this.
  2. Optimised Custom Design: We used The Solar Agency to design a system aimed to save us money. Contact us if you need assistance with this.
  3. Rent-to-Own: We made use of the commercial solar rental option. You can use Business Partners to get a solar system at a low monthly rate.

SOLAR SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Type of Business:

Small commercial seed packing and office space – no machinery. Their priorities are: (1) Beat Load Shedding; (2) Get Savings on the bottom line if possible.

Monthly electricity usage:

1680 kW units pm

System Required:

  • 20kw Hybrid-Inverter
  • 4x 5.12kw HV Batteries
  • 30x 460W Solar Panels
  • After-support and maintenance

System Payment Option:

To cover the total system cost of R434 854, a 5-Year Financing option worked best through the Energy Fund for SME’s (by Business Partners). Payments:

  • R0 pm for month 1-6; then
  • R9800 pm month 7-60.
  • R0 pm afterwards.

Energy Expense BEFORE New Solar System:

R 4 214 per month (on average over the past 12 months before the new system)

Energy Expense AFTER New Solar System:

R -2 023 per month (meaning, an energy expense will be shifted into an energy income due to solar energy being sold back to Eskom)

Type of Business:

Office block affected by an increase in Eskom’s Peak Hour Electricity cost per KW.

Monthly electricity usage:

Over 20 MW /m (20 000 kW)

System Required:

  • 200 kW Inverter
  • 1 MW Battery Storage
  • 0 Solar Panels
  • After-support and maintenance

System Payment Option:

Energy Expense BEFORE New Solar System:

R 668 572 per month to Eskom (on average over the past 12 months before the new system).

Energy Expense AFTER New Solar System:

R 612 901 per month due to the solar system rental being used for Peak Saving. Meaning, the batteries are charged in the evening with Eskom’s power at lower rates; and then during the day the power from batteries are used. This saving can absorb a battery back-up system’s monthly rental and cover the client against loadshedding.

Monthly electricity usage:

5517kwh/m

System Required:

  • No Generator Rentals / Maintanance / Diesel needed anymore.
  • Energy is now received from the solar panels at no cost.
  • Extra energy received from solar panels are sold back to Eskom – mostly summertime.
  • A Pty is allowed to claim back a large percentage of the solar system’s value from Income Tax.
  • The Solar Agency optimise the solar system to fit the ever-changing seasons / client needs monthly, which allows for maximum system efficiency.
  • No Peak kW Purchases at Eskom is needed anymore.
  • BONUS: No more loss of income due to loadshedding.

Our experience:

As a South African based Company, Company Partners is no stranger to loadshedding and the impact it can have on business productivity.

We recently got rid of our noisy, expensive generator and traded it in with a reliable back up system by the Solar Agency. The whole installation took just 1 day and 2 experienced installers! Our team was so excited and amazed by how professionally the installation was done.

The solar agency team came well equipped to install our tailor-made inverter system. The service was seamless and helped us make a stress-free transition to solar energy.

The outcome? A beautiful masterpiece that will help our company beat loadshedding for good! And the best part? We got this entire setup for just under R2000 per month.

Needless to say, our team couldn’t be happier! – See the video below!
